"What do you mean you wont go?" Meg said irritably.

"I am not going to go and put myself through the questions and looks. I'm done. I'm done hurting, done having people feel sorry for me, done feeling sorry for myself!" Shelly replied, flinging herself on the couch with all the style of a teenager who was just denied keys to their parents car.

Meghan wanted to laugh. Shelly was one of her dearest friends and, usually, the most rational out of their small social group. The fact that her Thirty-one year old friend was having a tantrum was unavoidably amusing.

"Shells, really." Meg said, using the nickname she had since High School. "I think you are exaggerating a bit. Hardly anyone in Oakdale will even know about Brett, let alone the circumstances of your break-up."

Shelly stared at Meg with her patented "Are you freaking kidding me?" look, stuck her tongue out, then covered her head with a pillow. "I don't care that going home is tradition. This year you are doing it all on your own. I'm staying home and eating Ben and Jerry's until I am to big to even fit into Santa's suit."

Meg rolled her eyes and walked into the kitchen to pour them a much needed cup of coffee. She started thinking about Brett and how this whole mess began.

Brett and Shelly had met at a friends Forth of July party. He was good looking, had a sense of humor and attentive to both her and her friends. They had dated for 2 years before moving in together. Shells wasn't crazy with the idea of living with a guy she wasn't married too. As her friends put it, she was just 'old fashioned' that way. Brett had done a lot of smooth talking, begging and pleading and finally convinced Shelly this was for the best. They would be able to save money, eventually become engaged and then married. Shelly was a kindergarten teacher and Brett managed a local grocery store chain. They weren't rich but they managed to put away enough to make their dreams seem more possible. It wasn't much and it wasn't glamorous, but their lives made Shelly content and happy.

At least , until one morning in October. Shelly had taken a half day with plans to stop at Brett's work and kidnap him for a surprise evening out. She stopped by the store where he was supposed to be and was surprised to find out Brett had called in sick that morning. Usually she left while he was still sleeping, headed to the gym for an hour, then to the school to prepare for the day and didn't call him until lunch, so she hadn't know he wasn't feeling well.

She got back in her car and tried calling his cell phone. It went straight to voice mail and, deciding that he must be napping, decided not to leave a message. Worried about him, Shelly had driven home to see if he was alright. She got to their little townhouse and parked out front. She walked up the front stairs, unlocked the door, bent down to pick up the mail from the floor, stood up and then froze.

Roz - The problem is I've sort of hit a 'writer's block.' I don't want the next typical 'Omg, he's having an affair' thing. So I thought maybe you guys could help me with ideas :-) LOL.

His brother is a spy so they came down to hold him hostage. She stumbles upon them interrogating him!

Yeah don't do the affair thing, if you do make sure she kills him, flees and is never found...
just sayin'.

Bee - LMAO. I thought about the spy thing. But then I figured I'd watched too much Chuck. And then I'd have to take the book in a different direction because...it's not like she'd live to tell about what she saw!

So there is my problem. I will have it figured out by next Wednesday. Hopefully. LMAO.

Son of a bitch. I posted this already.

She freezes because Brett is kneeling on the floor with a ring box in his hand. He had overheared her on the phone the night before and knew what she was planing so he decided to finally be the one to surprise her.

I figure someone should have a happy ending and if its not me might as well be Shelly.

Pokey - That's not bad. Not bad at all. EXCEPT....then why is she all forlorn now?

Pokey Puppy said...

BECAUSEEEEE>.. shes a woman whos been scorned before and was I(naturally) expecting him to be cheating.. so she WAS forlorn.... but in the NEXT section she is elated. Overcome with the jubilance of love. Trows him to the ground in a fit of passion since her heaving bosom is throbbing for him... or something

Pokey - Okay. Well. The problem is..then she can't..well..then I have to change the rest of the story and Shelly's fate is already sealed. Minus this one issue of how I get rid of Brett. So your heaving bosom will have to wait until the NEXT story ;-) LMAO.

Oh fine... cough cough....

she freezes because as she looks down the hallway and sees bret.. laying on the ground.. surrounded by blood. red, oozing, sticky, blood. His blood.

Pokey - MMMM. Now see. That could be good. That could be very good. Muaaah haa haa. (Have to go and plan the demise of Brett :-p )

Pokey - After careful consideration I am not sure that I should actually kill him. It might cause trouble with a later planned plot twist. But I will keep in under consideration. ;-) LMAO.

Pokey Puppy said...

well... he who know the end but doesnt tell so how are we supposed to help...

She goes in and frantically turns him over and realizes that it was indead NOT his blood but the haloween vials of fake blood for their pary... but he was still not breathing.. or was he barely>???? so she gives him the himlich that she just learned at work at up poops the engagement ring.. he lives, no blood, still engaged!!

Anonymous said...

Pokey - Now. That's just ridiculous. I know I know the end...but if I tell you that NOW then you won't read it when I type it up THEN. I want Brett alive but he has to do something horrible so that the engagement if off. That way she can find Matt. DUH!!

Pokey Puppy said...

they are already engaged???

Then what he coughs up is a pair of red lacy thongs!!! Bet however those got up there will make her pod at him!

Pokey - Okay. Sorry. Intended Engagement. Geez. Details..Details ;-) LMAO.

O.k., here I go stay with me here?

She opens a door and it is a portal, a portal? you say. yes all shimmering, she shuts the door. opens it again and its still there.... tension rises, does she goes through does she stay safe.she goes through.
(insert romantic time period) I would go with the revolution, they did meet at a fourth of July party!

This could be done with enough guy stuff and some good "Lake House" romantics. O.K. I so want to steal your story, I propose a battle!!!
you me, say 5 pages, then blog world decides. Bring it on!

Amber - LOL. Due to Battle Proceedings the story will unfold over the next 5 weeks. Please check back then ;-)
