The best post on depression. EVER.

I have suffered from depression on and off for about 9 years. I've had my up days. I've had my down days. I've had my all out psychotic days. I've had my higher than a kite days.

I've wanted to share my feelings and what it's like many times. To let others know that they are not alone and how I get myself through it all. But I haven't. I haven't been able to figure out exactly how to express myself and the raw emotions of the bad days.

Today while looking up Sk*rts I found this post by Suburban Oblivion.

Sara does an amazing and perfect job describing what I've felt and gone through. I hope you'll go over and read it for yourself.

I'm sure a lot of women can relate to her post. I know I can. I'm so grateful that my meds keep me on even ground. BTW, my first time here and this is the prettiest blog design that I've ever seen.

Slackermommy - I just resarted my meds a few months ago. I had been off them for almost 3 years. I am very thankful for the difference and that I was lucky enough to find a med that worked.

And thank you for the compliment :D

I could relate to that post because there are days when I just don't want to do anything.

It's strange how reassuring it is to hear that other people are having the same types of issues as you. I mean I wish we didn't suffer these 'anomalies' for lack of a better word but when the rest of the people around us are basically happy everyday, you wonder what is wrong with you and what more could you possibly want from life if you have everything you need and great people surrounding you.
Sometimes I feel selfish and downright unreasonable.
I always let my hubby know ahead of time so that he doesn't feel like he's doing anything wrong or that he should feel the need to try and cheer me up.
I tell him it's just something that has to be worked out within me and I'll be fine once I pull myself out of the dumps.
Last Sunday I almost cried because one of my favorite restaurants stopped serving beer and I was looking forward to having a beer with my meal (this is the only place I usually have a beer with my meal). I'm normally a tough chick that wouldn't dream of letting anyone see me cry...
It's weird but people that know me would never think I have these types of moments. They always comment on how I put things in perspective and just find the humor in the situation. But then again they do not know me outside of either work or those casual friendships you form because you go to the same gym etc.
Chris, I’m glad you made us aware of this post because it’s so dead on accurate!

That was a great post! I sat there reading it thinking "I've felt that or thought that!" Like someone else said, it's just so nice to hear that you're not the only one going through it.
And to Bees comment on crying over the beer, I can totally relate to that. I guess it's because there are so few things that we do just for ourselves and we look forward to them so when they don't go as planned, it's a bigger deal that it normally would be.
I'm glad that you found this post and shared it with us.

Awww, your post made me cry!

I was talking to Megan at Velveteen Mind last week, and I told her comments like the ones people left are WHY I write the stuff I do. To know that I've been able to touch even one person and close the gap just a little, it makes it all so worth it :)

Glad you enjoyed it, and I hope you'll be around often, I'm adding you to my own reading list.

((Hugs))

Jesse - Don't we all! LOL.

Bee - I loved that you wrote such a long comment! I adore when people do that! And I agree with you..dead on accurate is exactly what it was!

Tracey - I love when I find something that hits me right to the core and then find that I can share it with others for the same reason. And it is wonderful to know we are not alone because sometimes I really feel that way.

Sara - Thank you for stopping in! I will most definitely be coming around and adding you to my list as well. Thank you so much for sharing in such an honest manner. It has helped so many realize that they aren't alone in this fight. xoxo
